...it burns the hooves like desert sand.
I meant. Nevermind.
Anyway, as some of you might know from facebook (like three of you? I dunno), I got a new job a month or so back. Since I moved to Seattle in 2011, I'd been working in the basement of Value Village. I had to get up at 6am every day, and got home around 5pm if I got out on time and went straight home... early start and a long day, every day, which meant I was tired when I did get home and was in bed by 9pm. So I had a few hours in the evening to myself, which was spent lazily poking around the internet since that's all I had energy for. I'm a night owl and I wasn't able to stay up long enough to hit that creative hour. I was going through my gallery here and counted up the drawings I've done in the past few years... it wasn't pretty. Breakdown:
In 2009 I still lived in Michigan. I uploaded 31 drawings to my main gallery here.
In 2010 I uploaded 11.
In 2011 I uploaded 13.
In 2012 I uploaded 11.
After I moved, my average was about a drawing a month. Which is terrible.
But... in 2013 there were only 4.
Last year saw only 3.
They were breaking me. I was uninspired, irritable, and broke. This isn't what I moved here for. So in the beginning of December, I left Value Village to become a barista at a little coffee shop. I have closing shifts, which means I can sleep until noon and stay up until 3 or 4am if I want. Already I've uploaded more pictures than I did in the whole of 2014 (if you don't count the TwitchPlaysPokemon sketches in my scraps gallery). I've also gone back to neopets, which always serves as a nice inspiration when ideas are lacking. The beauty contest there gives me a time goal.
I'm inspired again, and it feels good.
Expect more art from me!
(Uh, yeah. Also about that beauty contest thing
